Wanna Be in My Art? Why That Message Is Probably a Scam

Wanna Be in My Art?” ????Why That Message Is Probably a Scam

Have you ever received a message from someone claiming to be an artist who wants to use your photo in their next masterpiece? They say they’ll even pay you for it. Sounds exciting, right?

Unfortunately, this isn’t about discovering your big break—it’s a common online scam.

???? The Setup

Scammers often pose as digital artists or painters and reach out through social media, claiming they want to feature you in a custom piece. It starts with compliments, a friendly tone, and a promise of payment.

But here’s where things go wrong.

???? The Scam

Once you agree, the “artist” might:

Ask for your banking login information to “send a deposit.”

Send a fake check and then request that you send money back for “supplies” or “artist fees.”

In both cases, the goal is to steal your money or personal information. The scam is designed to sound friendly and artistic but is anything but.

????️ How to Stay Safe

If you get one of these messages, protect yourself:

???? Never share your banking information

???? Don’t cash checks from strangers

???? Block and report suspicious messages

️ Trust Your Instincts

At Beacon Federal Credit Union, your financial safety is our priority. It probably is if a message feels off or too good to be true.

Stay smart. Stay secure. Stay scam-free.
