Holiday Scam Alert: Don't Fall for FDIC Imposter Calls
Scammers are becoming increasingly creative and convincing. Recently, someone received a call claiming to be from the FDIC, saying,
“Your credit union isn’t insured, but we can move your money to a secure FDIC account. Just go withdraw your funds and get a cashier’s check, but don’t tell anyone, or your account will be frozen.”
Unfortunately, they followed the instructions and lost a significant amount of money.
Here’s the truth:
Beacon Federal Credit Union is federally insured by the NCUA (National Credit Union Association), the credit union equivalent of the FDIC. Your deposits are safe and insured up to $250,000 per account.
- Never move your money or share account information based on a phone call, text, letter, or email.
