Credit Union Teller

Job Description

Responsible for processing daily financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, issuing bank checks, etc. Must provide accurate, courteous, timely and informative service to ensure that the members receive extraordinary service. Emphasis is placed on identifying members needs in order to cross sell credit union products and services. Monday through Saturday availability. Saturdays are required.

  • Cash handling experience
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions
  • Banking experience preferred
  • Personable and must have listening skills
  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders, cashier checks, and travelers checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance

Financial Service Representative

Job Duties:

Responsible for assisting Beacon Federal Credit Union members and potential members with financial needs including new accounts, credit union products & services, consumer loans, promote and educate members on new promotions. Effectively resolves member problems and consistently practices various sales techniques regarding products & services designed to meet a member’s needs. Monday through Saturday availability required.

  • Performs all functions associated with account maintenance as requested including, but not limited to, personal and account data changes, address changes, account closures, account renewals and stop payment orders; open and close accounts, including but not limited to, savings, checking, money market, certificate of deposit, and club accounts; order checks for member accounts; complete payroll deductions and authorization forms and forward to the appropriate department for action and/or document storage and retrieval
  • Assure that appropriate records are maintained
  • Maintain member account information in computer system
  • Provide consistently high quality customer service
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to members
  • Interact with members as required in order to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance
  • Responds to telephone messages and correspondence within one business day.
  • Provides and maintains member security & confidentiality and identify potential fraud
  • Assists external & internal members with resolving member service issues in timely & appropriate manner
  • Assist Call Center Management with escalated member service or sales calls as needed
  • Answer incoming calls in a timely professional manner
  • Answer phone inquiries which include, but are not limited to: account inquiries, wire transfers, loan application and processing, rate inquiries, verification of checks and research requests
  • Transfer calls to appropriate area
  • Refer new and existing members to a credit union employee who has specific expertise when necessary
  • May perform teller duties as needed


  • Must have a high school diploma
  • 2 years’ experience in a credit union or related field
  • Have an understanding of a credit report
  • Basic knowledge of banking products and services
  • Personable and must have good communication and listening skills
  • Must be tactful and courteous
  • Dependability and punctuality essential

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for an entire work day.
